Rapper Kanye West, who is embroiled in a number of scandals, has said he will run for president of the United States in 2024 and has said he has invited Donald Trump to serve as his running partner.
Ye, the artist’s stage name, uploaded a number of videos along with the hashtag “Ye 24” on his Twitter account on Thursday night.
The 45-year-old musician in one of them discusses a chat he had with former President Donald Trump, who just just declared his own bid for the White House in 2024.
Ye stated that he had “asked him to be my vice president” and that Trump had “started shouting” at him.
The music and fashion mogul already made an unlikely run for president in the 2020 election, but she only garnered 70,000 votes.
On Friday, Trump acknowledged having dinner with West at the latter’s Florida home, but said the gathering was “short” and “uneventful”.
Ye has come under fire for posting comments on Instagram and Twitter that were deemed to be anti-Semitic and wearing a T-shirt that appropriated the anti-racist slogan “Black Lives Matter.” Ye has been embroiled in a series of scandals that have led several high-profile companies to sever their business ties with him.
Adidas, a former business partner of the rapper, also disclosed on Thursday that it was starting an investigation after receiving complaints from staff members about the rapper’s bullying and immoral behavior.
